'Make A Difference' Theme Of Teen Summer Reading At Warsaw Library
Posted
Staff Report-
"You are here … Make a Difference" is the theme of the teens Summer Reading Program segment.
Throughout the year, the Warsaw Community Public Library’s Teen Advisory Council has been encouraged to serve the community and find ways to make a difference in the local area.
During the first part of the year, participating teens reached out to local preschools and daycares with story kits they created out of empty pizza boxes. These story kits contained flannel objects and figures to go with the storybooks included in the story boxes.
On July 6, teens will have the chance to Read for Change during a Read-a-Thon from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Teens are encouraged to find sponsors for reading for five hours. Money raised will go to Kate’s Kart to supply free books to hospitalized children.
For teens interested in volunteering and making a difference this summer, there’s still time to register for this year’s teen Summer Reading Program, Simply go to www.warsawlibrary.com, click the area on the home page, and follow the instructions.
