Mad Anthony's Employees Collect Change For Charity
It started out as a contest between two co-workers.
It ended as a way to give to those in need.
In early October Warsaw Mad Anthony's employees Greg Patrick and Jessica Vutech began collecting the spare change from their tips.
Collecting them, the original idea was to collect it for a month and flip a coin to see who would win the money.
With October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the two decided it'd be better to use the spare change for some good.
So for one month, the two would work their shift and dump all the change they collected into two bags.
Today, the two will walk more than $320 in change and bills to the Kosciusko County Community Foundation.
At first Patrick and Vutech were going to donate their money to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer research.
They then decided to keep the money they collected local to have a greater impact.
Patrick said it was important for him because he lost a grandmother to breast cancer. He's since done charity runs.
"We just thought it was something we could do," said Patrick.
"I've lost family members to cancer and I know the struggles they've had with things like paying medical bills," said Vutech.
Patrick and Vutech are now challenging other restaurants, bars and restaurants.
"Just do something to help," said Patrick.
As the two were collecting change from their tips, customers found out about it and decided to help out a bit, too.
