Mad Anthony Brewing Bringing Restaurant To Downtown Warsaw

Posted

Mad Anthony Brewing Co. is planning to bring a restaurant to downtown Warsaw at 113 E. Center St.

If the business is successful, company president Blaine Stuckey told the Kosciusko County Alcoholic Beverage Commission Thursday, a catering hall and/or micro-brewery may be added later.

The commission unanimously approved the business' application for retailer permits for beer, wine and liquor and Sunday sales.

Stuckey said the company is in negotiations to purchase the Eagles building, which is larger than their Auburn location.

Of Warsaw, Stuckey said, "This has more consistent business in the downtown area." Mad Anthony's has been successful in downtown Auburn and that is what brought them to downtown Warsaw. He said he looked at locations for two years.

"I'm real happy with our choice and looking forward to doing business here a long time," Stuckey said.

ABC member Elim Smith asked when the business was expected to open.

"Hope to see no more than 160 days," replied Stuckey. With so much room in the three floors of the building, Stuckey said, they've had much preliminary construction.

Stuckey said the Warsaw location was the fourth business the company owned dealing with alcohol.

As for what food the restaurant will serve, Stuckey said they have a 12-page menu, including everything from gourmet pizza to deli-style sandwiches and rib specials.

According to the Mad Anthony Brewing Co. Web site at www.madbrew.com, the business was started by Blaine Stuckey and Todd Grantham. Stuckey had restaurant/bar experience having worked at Chili's and Columbia Street West, Fort Wayne. Grantham had been a home beer brewer since 1992. Together, they launched Mad Anthony in 1995 and later bought the original Munchie Emporium to complete the picture. Then Grantham called Jeff Neels, a friend from his old college restaurant days, to help run it.

In other business, the ABC approved the following renewals with no violations:

• Acalpulco Restaurant, 217 E. Center St., Warsaw, beer, wine and liquor and Sunday sales retailer permits.

• Raccoon Run Golf Course, 3085 E. Pierceton Road, Warsaw, beer and Sunday sales retailer permits.

• Lance's New Market, 726 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, beer and wine dealer permit.

• Wawasee Bowling Lanes, 1202 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, beer, wine and liquor and Sunday sales retailer permits.
