Louie's Bar & Grill Expresses Interest In Carryout Beer, Wine, Liquor License

Posted
Louie’s Bar & Grill expressed interest in  obtaining a carryout license for wine, beer and liquor during Thursday’s Kosciusko County Alcohol Beverage Commission meeting.
During the meeting, Linda Yoder, Louie’s Bar & Grill owner, said the business gave up its carryout license 10 years ago to get its three-way beer, wine and liquor license.
Yoder said she has noticed other businesses in Syracuse have gotten carryout licenses, and wondered what she needed to do for her business to get a carryout license.
She said customers and boaters have expressed interest in the business having the option of carryout beer, wine and liquor.
April Tackett, excise officer, said the business will need to contact the Indiana Alcohol and Tobacco Commission for the carryout request.
The Kosciusko County Alcohol Beverage Commission will need to approve the carryout license.
Tackett said at the time Louie’s Bar & Grill sought the license to add liquor sales to its license, there was not a three-way liquor license with carryout available.
Also during the meeting, the board approved a beer and wine license renewal for Yamato Steakhouse of Japan Inc., 101 Argonne Road, Warsaw.
The board approved a beer, wine and liquor renewal for G&M Package Store Inc., doing business as Beef’s Booze Barn, 100 N. Huntington St., Syracuse.
Tackett said Beef’s Booze Barn had one violation with three charges of selling alcohol to a minor, allowing a minor to loiter, and failure to check identification.
During the meeting, Margaret Camp, Beef’s Booze Barn co-owner, said the violation occurred on Jan. 14 and the business has paid the $500 fine since then.
She said the incident occurred when her husband, Gerald Camp, did not check identification of a minor.
“We have been in business for 43 years and this was the first time he did not check an I.D.,” Camp said.
Camp said her husband said he did not check I.D. because he was talking to someone else at the time.
Margaret said her husband was unable to attend Thursday’s meeting due to medical reasons.
Board member Elim Smith made the motion to renew Beef’s Booze Barn’s three-way liquor license seconded by Ken Johnson.
