Perhaps this year as much as any other, a local union's efforts may make Christmas for area families.
Local 809 employees at DePuy collected money and will buy 310 meals for families that they'll be giving away Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Midas off U.S. 30 in Warsaw.
Families in need are encouraged to stop by Thursday.
The meals are first-come, first-serve.
The meals will be purchased Wednesday.
Last year, Local 809 bought 250 meals for families in need.
The dinners include a 5-pound ham, two orders of green beans, two boxes of stuffing, gravy, 10 pounds of potatoes and pudding.
The union worked with Marsh and Aldi to get all the food at a reduced price, which allowed the purchase of so many meals.
There are around 300 members in the union so they tried to raise enough money to have at least every member give out a meal.
They raised around $4,000 during their collection.
