INDIANAPOLIS – Zack Rooker, a junior at Warsaw Community High School, will compete this summer in The Kenneth E. Behring National History Day contest, which will take place June 12-16 at University of Maryland at College Park near Washington D.C.
An all-time high of 56 students from across Indiana will take part in the national competition.
Rooker placed second in the National History Day in Indiana state competition for his senior individual documentary “The Shattered City: Post-War Diplomacy, Cold-War Consequences”.
Rooker also advanced to national competition in 2010.
The top two entries from each junior and senior category (and/or the runner-up if first or second place is unable to attend) from the National History Day in Indiana contest are eligible to compete in The Kenneth E. Behring National History Day Contest.
National History Day in Indiana is a year-long program dedicated to enhancing history education in elementary and secondary schools. Students in grades four through 12 explore a historical subject and then use their research to create imaginative exhibits, original performances, media documentaries, websites and papers. The 2011 theme is “Debate & Diplomacy in History: Successes, Failures, Consequences”.
