Megan Easterday, the teen whose fight with cancer brought a community together, lost the battle Wednesday.
Easterday, 16, had been ill for several years and died of complications from cancer at her residence.
As a result of her illness, Easterday became a volunteer and active in fund-raising and cancer awareness campaigns for the American Cancer Society, Riley Children's Hospital and Children's Make-A-Wish Foundation of Indiana.
She was featured in several publications, films and posters for cancer awareness.
Easterday, the daughter of Larry and Anne Easterday, Warsaw, was also a contributing writer for a soon-to-be published book on "challenged kids."
Her obituary appears on Page 3A.
