If a group of local investors has its way, local healthcare consumers of will have expanded choices in the near future.

Tobias Buck, of Warsaw, is leading the community-based Choice Multi-specialty Group in the development of new medical facilities that will include ambulatory surgery, an imaging center and multi-specialty group of physicians.

The facility, which will be located on property along the U.S. 30 corridor in the Warsaw area, is to be operational by the third quarter of 2006, Buck said.

In a statement released to the press today, Buck said the project will combine local primary care with comprehensive medical and surgical specialties.

"The center will provide local residents a choice for accessing high quality, cost efficient health care. The surgical center will include a wide spectrum of medical and surgical specialty options, which currently have limited availability in the Kosciusko County area," the release stated.

Phase one of the project will focus on the most immediate needs in the community, including services from primary medical care, gastrointestinal specialists, physiatry, general and orthopedic surgery procedures and radiology, Buck said.

Additional medical specialists, including cardiology and nuclear medicine, will be incorporated into the center at a later date.

"In order to efficiently and effectively provide a continuum of care, Board Certified family practitioners, medical specialists and surgeons will work together to cover the medical needs of the community," the release stated.

Buck, chairman and CEO of Paragon Medical Inc., an orthopedic supply company in Pierceton, said, "This effort seeks to combine some of the areas finest medical professionals, utilizing a multi-disciplinary approach, to provide area consumers with a choice in the extension of health care services beyond primary care."

Buck said this is a community-based effort of private investors and physicians and is not affiliated with Paragon Medical Inc.

The project is not associated with Kosciusko Community Hospital. Michael Mullins, chief executive office of KCH, said, "Kosciusko Community Hospital has not been invited to participate in the venture."
