Halloween is a week away and local businesses are seeing children, teenagers and adults shopping for the perfect costume to celebrate Halloween.

Joe and Joyce Conlon, owners of Celebrations, 106 E. Center St., Warsaw, said they have 300 to 400 costumes.

The couple has been selling costumes at the business for 33 years and said they have costumes for all preferences.

Celebrations sells costumes for teenagers and men's and women's adult costumes in sizes small to extra large.

The business also offers a costume rental service where people can rent costumes for a three-day period ranging from $25-$75. A deposit is required.

Joyce said couple's costumes are popular every year. The store has super hero couple's costumes like Batman and Catwoman and Superman and Supergirl.

The Conlons said Rocky Horror Picture Show and hippie costumes are popular with teenagers.

Other outfits available are Wizard of Oz costumes, Elvis and flapper costumes.

Masks, vampire teeth, hats, wigs and makeup also are sold at the business.

Joe also does makeup for people for $1 a minute.

Joe, who also is a ninth grade English teacher at Warsaw Community High School, said his favorite face to paint is Freddy Krueger makeup.

Joe has a background in doing makeup and has done makeup for local high school theater productions.

The business purchases costumes from people that have outgrown them or no longer have a use for them, Joyce said.

"Of course we have the vampire and witch costumes that are a staple every year," Joe said.

Joyce said the business constantly gets new costumes in.

He said people dress up for work at doctor's offices and grocery stores and have rented and purchased costumes at the business.

Celebrations sells and rents costumes year-round where people come to get costumes for church and school events.

Celebrations store hours are Tuesdays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Charlotte Tucker, K-Mart Warsaw assistant manager, said the business has been selling costumes for the last month and business is good.

K-Mart, Warsaw, sells children's and adult costumes including princess, witches, hippies. The store also sells hats and accessories.

Gary Elders, Wal-Mart manager, Warsaw, said costume sales have been good.

Wal-Mart, Warsaw, has costumes for kids, teenagers and adults.

"Star Wars and anything Disney or Hannah Montana costumes are selling well," Elders said.

He said he expects costume sales to pick up even more this weekend and into next week.
