Three local eateries are featured in a book that highlights restaurants in Indiana.
The book, titled "Dining Secrets of Indiana: A Guide to Unique Restaurants and Eateries Throughout Indiana," is in its sixth edition and is published by Poole Publishing, Indianapolis.
The book provides menu highlights and a brief overview gives readers a feel for what makes each restaurant unique.
Restaurant business hours, addresses and phone numbers also are included in the book.
Winona Lake's Cerulean Restaurant & Sushi Lounge, 1101 E. Canal St., and Syracuse establishments Oakwood Inn and Conference Center, 849 E. Lake View Road, and Sleepy Owl Supper Club, 11374 N. Ind. 13, are featured in the book.
Caleb France, co-owner of Cerulean Restaurant & Sushi Lounge, said he is honored to have the restaurant highlighted in the book.
"This is our second year for being open and we have been well received by the community, and it's great to have our restaurant be selected for the book," France said.
Britt Sigler, Oakwood Inn and Conference Center office manager, said they appreciate being in the book.
Julie Larson, Sleepy Owl Supper Club owner, said she is excited to have her restaurant in the book.
"My husband Jeff and I bought the restaurant in June, and this is a restaurant that has a long history in the community," Larson said.
Over the years, Indianapolis residents Jim and Kathy Poole have visited 92 counties in Indiana in search of the best of Indiana's independently owned dining establishments.
"The most interesting part of our research has been that it's not just the food that makes the restaurant special, it's the family traditions, local history and unusual settings that are so appealing," Poole said.
Poole Publishing researched and selected all of the restaurants that appear in the publication. None of the establishments paid a fee to be in the book.
The 112-page book features 241 restaurants located along the main streets and back roads in Indiana. The book also highlights restaurants in Michigan, Kentucky and Ohio.
The book can be purchased through the publisher for $12 which includes tax and postage. Send a check or money order to Poole Publishing, 6004 Buckskin Circle, Indianapolis, IN 46250 or call 1-800-401-4599.
