Local Church To Hold Dinner For Homeless, Unemployed

Posted
God's Highway To Heaven Church will serve a Christmas meal to those who are homeless or unemployed.

The church, at 550 Weber St., Warsaw, will serve a free Christmas meal to the public Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

It is the first year the church will hold the dinner.

The menu will include ham, sweet potatoes, green beans, corn, dessert and beverages and will be served by the church's congregation.

Food was donated by the community, and pies will be baked by the church's congregation.

Judy Pennington, church member, said the church saw there were Thanksgiving meals served in the community, and wanted to make sure a Christmas meal was served.

"People are busy this time of year preparing for Christmas, and it is easy to forget there may be some out there that don't have the funds to put food on their table," Pennington said.

She said the church is prepared to serve 300 to 500 people Saturday.

Pennington said she is a volunteer in the church's food pantry. The pantry is open Tuesdays from 4 to 5 p.m. Pennington said there has been an increase in people using the food pantry's services.

Church pastors are Bob and Tanya Brown, who are coordinating the dinner.
