Local Builders Gearing Up For Annual Parade Of Homes

Posted

Hors d'oeuvres, chilled wine and punch will be served at 7 p.m.

Carol Huffer, executive officer for the Builder's Association, said everyone is invited to attend "providing they have a ticket."

Tickets for the VIP night can be purchased at the Builder's Association's office, 313 S. Buffalo St., for $20 until Sept. 5.

"It's a very special evening," Huffer said. "First of all, it's the 15th anniversary for the Builder's Association."

Huffer said opening night ceremonies begin at 6 p.m., "where each of the builders are introduced and the sponsors are introduced." Following the introductions, Huffer said, a VIP tent will be set up "where we will be serving hors d'oeuvres and punch."

The VIP night also will include live entertainment from harpist Beth Par, Plymouth, and "the homes are opened to be toured" at this time.

Nine homes in the Deed's Creek Manor subdivision will be toured this year. The homes range from 2,700 to 5,000 square feet and are priced at $200,000 and up.

"We usually expect up to 1,000 people," Huffer said of attendance at the homes on parade VIP night. "It's a beautiful night."

Huffer and the Builder's Association hope to allow "the people in the community that are the directors of businesses, industries, our education facilities and the leaders of public relations and human resources to see the type of homes we have to offer."

She said the homes have been for sale in the past and "any of the builders can sell the homes." But, the nine homes to be shown at the VIP night are all sold. Huffer said they are all fully decorated and furnished.

"There's a lot of unique wood-working this year," Huffer said of styles of the homes on parade. "There's some very unique features in flooring materials and we have an outdoor kitchen on one of them and a couple of in-ground swimming pools.

"These are all very pretty homes," Huffer said. She encourages the community to view the architectural structure and layout of the homes.

Huffer said the 2000 Homes On Parade is open from Sept. 9-17 when the general public can purchase tickets at the parade site for $5.

No new developments have been proposed to the Builder's Association for next year's parade yet. Decisions about future Parade of Homes sites are made the December prior to the scheduled Parade of Homes date, and 22 different builders have built the 130 parade homes featured during the 15 years the Parade of Homes has been operational.
