Little Caesars, 101 Winona Ave., Warsaw, donated 110 pizzas to Combined Community Services Wednesday.
This morning, they donated another 64 $5 pizzas, including cheese, pepperoni, sausage and some three-meat pizzas.
According to Steve Possell, CCS director, families that come in to CCS for help will get the pizza for a meal. Those that aren’t used right away will be refrigerated.
Little Caesars manager Ruth Gunter said pizzas are only "fresh" for half an hour. If a pizza doesn’t get sold, the pizza business has to do something with them, so instead of trashing them, they are given away.
"Fresh is a big issue," Gunter said. Since Little Caesars just opened Tuesday, Gunter said they will probably give away this many pizzas to CCS for a month, then it likely will dwindle down to about 25 a day, with CCS picking the pizzas up every other day.
Additionally, Little Caesars is collecting canned food goods for the Food Bank. For every two cans a person brings in, they will receive one Crazy Bread. There is a limit of two Crazy Breads per person per day.
