The Lincoln Highway Buy-Way Sale will be held for the sixth year, stretching from Ohio to Iowa on the Lincoln Highway, which passes through Indiana.
The sale has been held in Kosciusko County for five years, according to Ken Locke, Kosciusko County Lincoln Highway chairman.
The sale will be at the corner of West Old 30 and CR 350W near the Chinworth Bridge/Lake City Greenway Park from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 4-6. Spaces are still available to non-profit groups at this site.
Warsaw Community Public Library will hold a book sale Aug. 5 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the corner of Center and High Streets in Warsaw. It will be inside if there is inclement weather.
Warsaw Downtown Merchants and vendors will have sidewalk sales and booths open Aug. 5 and 6, along with the First Friday event, which begins at 5:30 p.m., according to Cindy Dobbins, Warsaw Community Development Corp. director.
“People travel the sale route the three days looking for bargains,” according to Locke. “It is interesting to see vehicles with plates from Ohio, Illinois and West Virginia stopping at the sale as they drive across the central states.”
The Lincoln Highway route was moved to pass through Kosciusko in the mid 1920s and became Highway 30 with the Federal Highway Act.
The first coast-to-coast highway stretched from New York to San Francisco and was marked in 1928 in cooperation with the Boy Scouts of America.
The highway in Kosciusko County was Old 30E, Center and Lake streets in Warsaw and Old 30W passing through Atwood and Etna Green.
