Lincoln Celebrates Student Leadership At Annual Leadership Day

Posted

Last week, Lincoln Elementary welcomed families, community members, district leaders and special guests for the annual Leadership Day celebration.
As a Leader in Me school, Leadership Day provides students with the opportunity to demonstrate how leadership habits are embedded into everyday learning and school culture. The program is rooted in Stephen Covey’s “7 Habits of Highly Effective People” and focuses on empowering students to take ownership of their learning and personal development, according to a news release from Warsaw Community Schools.
Throughout the event, Lincoln Lions served as greeters, tour guides, performers and presenters. Students confidently shared personal goals, explained the 7 Habits in action, highlighted academic growth and demonstrated how leadership opportunities help them grow both inside and outside the classroom.
Leadership Day began with a schoolwide assembly and a student-created “Leader in Me” newscast video. Students wrote scripts, produced content and helped bring the presentation to life before welcoming visitors into classrooms and learning spaces throughout the building.
Visitors participated in student-led tours where Lions showcased leadership notebooks, data tracking, classroom learning, collaborative projects and examples of service and citizenship. Guests also experienced leadership lessons in action, classroom leadership roles, “Habits in Motion” activities and the student portfolio process. Students shared how they set goals, reflect on progress and work together to create a positive school culture.
Student ambassador Raven Burton shared the impact the program has had on her own development, explaining that the leadership habits have helped her become more organized and responsible with assignments. She also shared her favorite habit is “Sharpen the Saw,” which encourages students to care for themselves physically, emotionally, socially and intellectually while also serving others.
“Our students truly showed what it means to be a Lincoln Lion,” said Principal Hilary Stouder. “Leadership Day is more than an event. It’s an opportunity for students to share their voice, celebrate growth and show our community the impact of empowering students to lead.”
Leadership Day also highlighted the many ways Lincoln students shine through academics, the arts, service learning and teamwork. From welcoming guests with confidence to speaking publicly with pride and professionalism, students demonstrated perseverance, responsibility, synergy and kindness throughout the event.
The event also served as an opportunity to strengthen community partnerships and invite continued support for Lincoln students. Community members can support Lincoln Elementary financially through donations that help provide leadership opportunities, student celebrations, classroom resources, service projects and enrichment experiences that continue building strong leaders for the future. Those interested in supporting Lincoln Elementary can contact the school directly to learn more about partnership and donation opportunities.
