LEESBURG – A possible lightning strike at a town lift station required the purchase of a new sensor during Monday’s council meeting.
The council agreed to buy an extra sensor for the lift station on Ind. 15, which, it is thought, was struck by lightning over Memorial Day weekend. Members agreed to the $600 to $800 purchase at the recommendation of Derrick Tenney with Tenney & Sons. Tenney & Sons is in charge of Leesburg’s wastewater utilities.
Tenney also reported the water-holding tank used by Plain Township Fire Department in Leesburg had started leaking, and will need to be fully emptied before it can be repaired. The council agreed to do whatever is needed.
Also during the meeting, the council renewed its trash-collection contract with Veolia Environmental Services at the same rate as the past three years, $10.50 per household per month. Pick up of extra items will require the homeowner to first contact Clerk-Treasurer Jan Carter.
Reminders were given during the meeting that July 9 is town garage sale day, and town clean up is July 16.
