The total proposed budget for 2009 is $3,415,235. This is a $119,982, or 3.64 percent, increase over the 2008 budget.

The board plans to adopt the budget at its Oct. 13 meeting.

In other business, the board approved revisions to its computer usage and Internet acceptable use policy.

"It is routine to review our policy each year and make needed updates," said Library Director Ann Zydek.

Updated information in the policy states a person who knowingly or intentionally displays matter that is offensive and harmful to minors in an area to which minors have visual, auditory or physical access commits a Class D felony.

Another revision states a library card violation may include users whose accounts has been turned over to the library's material collection agency owing $25 or more.

Kathy Stutzman, community relations director, said this month is library card sign up month. She said there is a drawing at the library for a person who signs up for a library card to receive a gift certificate from Tascas.
