LEESBURG – A Leesburg man was arrested and charged with aggravated battery Wednesday morning in connection with an April 25 incident where he beat a juvenile family member.
Russel Creamer, 36, of 586 N. First St., was arrested at 10:14 a.m. and charged with aggravated battery, a Class B felony. Creamer is being held on $2,000 bond at the Kosciusko County Jail.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Creamer heard that a juvenile family member made an inappropriate comment to a young girl and he lost control of his temper. Witnesses told Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Dept. deputies that Creamer grabbed the juvenile by the throat and pushed him down the hallway and into a bedroom doorway, then onto the floor. Witnesses told deputies that Creamer banged the juvenile’s head against the ground. A witness intervened and noticed red marks on the juvenile’s neck.
When deputies spoke to the juvenile, he informed them that it was not the first time Creamer had attacked him. There was a previous incident April 22, where Creamer choked him and previously slammed his head into a stove and threw a remote control at him.
Later Creamer admitted to deputies that he went too far and grabbed the juvenile by the neck to get him to listen.
