Leesburg Elementary School was chosen as the Warsaw Walmart School of the Year. According to Store Manager Brock Heyneman, the annual School of the Year is voted on by the Walmart associates. The names of 20 teachers are randomly chosen to receive $50 gift cards from Walmart, but the teachers who don’t win still receive a school supply bag. Heyneman said teachers often pay for classroom supplies themselves, so the gift cards are a way to help them. Leesburg teachers winning the gift cards included Janet Kiser, Karen Sproul, Crystal Kreider, Kari Asay, Karen Klimpert, Deb Stahly, Jason Culver, Shea Proctor, Jason Roler, Barb Marose, Sue Adamiec, Abby Humbarger, Rebekah Gliem, Brittany Haines, Julie Bishop, Treleen Cox, Rachel Sudhoff, Cheri Sleighter, Sarah Wiggins and Teresa Jordan. Representing Walmart were Heyneman (back row, far right); Deb Ponko, community relations director (second row, far right) and Shelly Alber, personnel manager (back row, second from right).
