Leesburg Decides to Keep Mercantile Sewer Rate

Posted
LEESBURG – The town of Leesburg determined during their Monday meeting  that the Leesburg Mercantile is just that, a mercantile.
The issue came up last month as the business does serve food, and the town needed to determine if Leesburg Mercantile was being charged the correct sewer rates. The board found that the business meets guidelines for its current rate charge and the board found no reason to press the issue any further.
During citizen comments, a Canal Street resident raised the issue of speed and traffic in his neighborhood and the lack of a speed limit sign. The town decided to get quotes for signs and will install 30 mph speed limit signs in the neighborhood as well as ask law enforcement to increase their presence during heavy commute times.
The town announced their town garage sale for July 13 and town clean up for July 20.
The town board meets again August12, at 6:30 p.m. at the town hall.
