A crowd of approximately 1,300 Kosciusko REMC members and their families filled Warsaw Community Church on Saturday for the electric cooperative’s 72nd Annual Meeting. The primary item on the agenda was the election of directors. Incumbent Terry Bouse defeated Col. Rolland Fearnow; incumbent Rick Parker defeated Lindy Breeden; and incumbent Tom Shively defeated Gordon Vanator. The re-elected board members will serve another three-year term. With the annual meeting theme of “Smart Moves,” Board Chairman John Anglin addressed members about the technological changes that will be coming to the co-op with the installation of smart meters over the next several years. KREMC President and CEO Steve Rhodes presented an overview of the state of the co-op, and also discussed smart meters and the impact they will have for members. During the meeting, the 2010 Annual Report was also presented. It was accompanied by financial report highlights from Board Secretary/Treasurer Terry Bouse. Members were entertained by “Forever – The Tribute,” a Beatles tribute band from Crawfordsville. Children participated in a kids program featuring “Boogie Headz Entertainment” making animated music DVDs, and having their faces painted by Possum Ranch face painters. “Congratulations to Terry Bouse, Rick Parker and Tom Shively who were re-elected to the board on Saturday,” said Steve Rhodes, KREMC president and CEO. “We appreciate the service all of our directors provide, and we thank those members who were willing to run for office as well. We appreciate the dedication and loyalty all of our members display by attending annual meeting, and making a commitment to keeping this cooperative strong through their involvement.” Kosciusko REMC is a member-owned Touchstone Energy® electric cooperative, serving more than 17,000 customers throughout Kosciusko County and into surrounding counties.
