Lakeland Youth Chorale Kicks Off Parks Dept. Concerts This Friday

Posted
Lakeland Youth Chorale Friday will kick off Warsaw Parks Department concerts in Central Park.

The concert is free and will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Summer concerts will be Fridays until Aug. 29 in Central Park.

In preparation of Friday's concert, Lakeland Youth Chorale has enjoyed learning various classic melodies and songs from a number of Walt Disney productions, according to Director Dawn Engler. The chorale will present "A Disney Spectacular" during Friday's concert.

Lakeland Youth Chorale was formed in 2001 when its parent organization, Classic Arts Programs, wanted to meet a need in Kosciusko County, Engler said.

Since that time, Lakeland Youth Chorale has engaged children ages 5-12 in musical art and singing.

This season, the chorale has provided several concerts to the community.

Besides performing for family, friends and the public, the chorale has performed at the Festival of Trees and for residents at Grace Village and Miller's Merry Manor.

Lakeland Youth Chorale holds yearly auditions. Auditions for the 2008-2009 season will be June 5 from 6:30-8 p.m. and June 7 from 10 a.m. to noon at Community Bible Church, 2947 S. County Farm Road, Warsaw.

Children who want to audition should be supervised by a parent and will be required to sing a song.
