Posted
Lakeland Community Concert Association will start its 2012-13 season with pianist and entertainer Peter Simon.
Simon performs Sept. 29 at 7:30 p.m.
All concerts are at Rodeheaver Auditorium, except for the Fort Wayne Philharmonic Orchestra show, which will be at the Warsaw Community High School Performing Arts Center.
Simon has established himself as “one of America’s finest musicians and most distinctive and versatile musical personalities,” according to information provided by LCCA. “In reaching the heights of his profession, he has accomplished the rare artistic feat of generating both critical acclaim and widespread audience enthusiasm. As a concert pianist or solo, he has entertained audiences around the world.”
The Singing Hoosiers follow with a performance Oct. 20 at 7:30 p.m.
From the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, The Singing Hoosiers “shine as America’s premiere collegiate concert show choir,” according to information provided.
Founded in 1950, the choir celebrates its 60th anniversary this year. They perform American popular music, jazz and Broadway favorites with choreography, energy and style.
The Fort Wayne Philharmonic Orchestra will once again entertain with its popular Christmas Holiday Pops Concert. The concert is Dec. 16 at 2 p.m.
A second pianist joins a comedian for a show March 16. Classical Gas is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Rodeheaver.
Pianist Rich Ridenour teams up with violinist and comedian Steve Brook for a show that is “a little bit Jack Benny, Fritz Kreisler, Victor Borge and Abbot & Costello,” according to the information. They perform classics fueled by their own imaginations.
“Sure to delight all audiences, Brook and Ridenour will leave you smiling and warmed with a show encompassing many styles of musical entertainment,” it continues.
Ending the season will be Rodney Mack’s Philadelphia Big Brass April 26 at 7:30 p.m.
This group includes five of America’s top brass musicians who are dedicated to bringing the “joyous experience of great music to a wide range of audiences.”
LCCA season tickets are $40, and individual concert tickets are $15 each, except for the Philharmonic show. That single-concert ticket is $20.
