Lakeland Christian Inducts Brothers Into HOFLakeland Christian Academy recently inducted brothers, Jeff and Jay Mathisen, into its Athletic Hall of Fame. Jeff Mathisen (L) a 1988 graduate, played varsity soccer and varsity basketball for the Cougars. He was a member of the Indiana Christian Athletic Association state soccer runners-up team and helped lead LCA to back-to-back ICAA state championships his junior and senior seasons.  Jeff was named Lakeland Christian Academy’s Senior Athlete of the Year in 1988, the inaugural year this award was presented. Jeff and his wife Jennifer live in Bend, Oregon with their four sons, Connor, Kellen, Caden and Kraeton, where he works as a trauma/acute care surgeon in the Summit/BMC Surgery Department. Jay Mathisen (R)  graduated in 1991 and, like his brother, played varsity soccer and varsity basketball for LCA.  During his junior and senior years, Jay helped lead the Cougars to back-to-back ICAA state titles and was named most valuable player his season campaign.  He completed his basketball career in 1991 with LCA finishing as Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) state basketball runners-up.  Like his brother, Jay was named LCA’s Senior Athlete of the Year for the 1990-1991 academic year.  Jay and his wife Shannon have two teenage daughters, Daisy and Molly and live in Bend, Oregon, where he serves as the Deputy Superintendent with Bend-La Pine Schools and is a graduate level adjunct professor for George Fox University and Corban University.
