Lake City Skiers Wrapping Up Season

Posted
While the Lake City Skiers didn’t do as well as they had hoped at nationals, co-show director Tracey Patrick reported the team was happy to get there.
The Warsaw-based show ski team competed at Division II Nationals Aug. 6-7 at Tomahawk, Wis. The team placed ninth out of 15 teams.
Patrick said about 11 of the 15 teams were from Wisconsin.
“It’s huge up there,” she said.
During their show, titled “The Best Little Ski Show in Town”, Patrick said they had some boat failure. Two ropes broke during two separate acts.
Also impacting the Lake City Skiers’ performance was the site. Patrick said it was so different from their home site on Hidden Lake in Warsaw that the team had to adjust its show.
On a positive note, she said the Lake City Skiers won in the best pickup boat crew category. The team’s highest-scoring act was its barefoot act, and the sky ski act did well, too.
“The weather was beautiful and we had a great time,” Patrick said. “Everyone pulled together.”
The ski team has three more regular home shows left. The shows are at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 21, 28 and Sept. 4 on Hidden Lake, behind Smith Tire, Ind. 15, Warsaw.
On Sept. 10 at 6:30 p.m., the Lake City Skiers will join with the Ohio team Chippewa for its third annual Chip City Show.Anyone who wants to learn to water ski, the Lake City Skiers are hosting “Learn to Ski” clinics Aug. 16 and Aug. 23 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hidden Lake. A person can register for the clinic as late as 5:30 p.m. each of those days. Any ages are welcome. There is no cost, but donations are appreciated.
Patrick said the team appreciates the community’s support and sponsors, including Clark’s Marina and Evinrude.
