WINONA LAKE - Runners will have the opportunity to participate in five races in Winona Lake this weekend.
The fourth annual Lake City Distance Classic will be Saturday at Winona Lake Park.
It is being sponsored by the Lake City Running Club of Northern Indiana.
Tracy Skipper, race co-director, said the race route was designed this year to include Winona Lake's new Greenway Heritage Trail and avoid runners crossing major intersections.
The race will begin at Winona Lake Park and continue through the Heritage Trail.
There will be five races Saturday with registration and a race for slower runners at 6 a.m. and a half-mile, 1-mile and 50-K marathon will be at 7 a.m.
An 8-K race starts at 7:30 a.m.
Skipper said runners from all over the world, including Germany and Macedonia, will participate in this year's race.
A post-race tailgate party will be held where refreshments will be provided to the runners as well as free hamburgers and hot dogs to spectators.
"We want everyone to come out and support the runners," Skipper said.
A pre-race pasta meal will be Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at New Life Christian Church, Warsaw. Runners will have the opportunity to pick up their race packets at the meal.
