The Mental Health Association of Kosciusko County has been named a recipient of $30,000 from the sale of Kids First license plates.
The local agency, 920 Fisher Ave., Warsaw, will apply its grant money to a parent-training project.
The $2.37 million in grants awarded this year is slightly below the $2.39 million awarded last year. The amount of money available for grants is directly related to the number of Kids First plates sold each year.
Funds from the license plate sale help fight child abuse and neglect in Indiana. Last year, 45 children died from abuse or neglect and another 63,000 individual cases of child abuse and neglect were referred to the Family and Social Services Administration's Division of Family and Children.
The cost of a Kids First plate is an additional $37, only $15 of that cost goes to grantee organizations.
