Habitat for Humanity of Kosciusko County has hired a new executive director.

Christon Clark has been hired to replace former executive director Lori Harman, who resigned this year.

Clark comes to Habitat for Humanity of Kosciusko County from Habitat for Humanity of Northeast Indiana where he spent the past two years as the fundraising chair as well as the volunteer coordinator through the AmeriCorps/Indiana HabiCorps program.

“We are pleased to have someone with Christon’s Habitat experience to lead the affiliate,” Evelyn Steffen, board president, said.

In his time in northeast Indiana Clark initiated several innovative fundraising programs as well as collaborations with various other non-profit agencies within DeKalb, Noble, and Steuben counties. His affiliate was acknowledged as 2010’s Small Affiliate of the Year by Habitat for Humanity of Indiana for such work.

He was instrumental in the affiliate’s first time participation in National Women Build Week sponsored by Lowe’s earlier this year, something he hopes to bring to Kosciusko next spring.

In addition to his work in Indiana, Clark also has traveled to El Salvador to work on Habitat projects and is leading a trip in early March 2012 back to El Salvador.

The trip is open to anyone interested in experiencing the Habitat mission in another culture. More information can be requested by emailing Clark at clark@kosciuskohabitat.com

Prior to his Habitat experience, Clark worked for an international non-profit as well as owned a golf equipment business.

He is in the process of relocating from Angola and is looking forward to engaging the county in various Habitat and other non-profit projects.

He has previously volunteered with Junior Achievement and the Steuben County Literacy Coalition and hopes to continue such work in Kosciusko County.

Habitat is currently working on finishing the home build at 559 E. Market St., Warsaw.

Volunteers are welcome on upcoming Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays to help finish the interior as well as landscaping.
