Kosciusko County Democrat Party chair Terry Bartley resigned Wednesday from his position. Bartley, who has served as the Democrat chair since March 2009, submitted the following letter to the Democrat party Wednesday: “I would like to inform you that effective as of today 5/1/2013, I am resigning as Kosciusko County Democratic Chairman. “I will also inform other leaders of the party in the 2nd and 3rd districts. I will also help the new or temp. chairman with the transition if needed. I will be in within the next few days to pick up any personal items at the office, i.e. phone charger, pics or any tools that still my be there. I will then leave the key to the office on the desk.” During a telephone interview Wednesday afternoon, Bartley said he is resigning due to time constraints to make time for work, family and home commitments. “I ran across a lot of good life-long Democrats and will miss working with the candidates,” Bartley said. “You’re married to the job, there is no off season in politics.” Bartley said he is a life-long Democrat and still plans to be active in the party. Steve Haines, Democrat party member, said there will be a meeting Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Democrat headquarters, 417 E. Winona Ave., to discuss a replacement process to fill the vacancy left by Bartley. Lee Ann Brown, Democrat party vice chair, has assumed Bartley’s duties until his seat is filled, Haines said.
