Kosciusko Area Plan Commission Approves Rezoning Of Ag District For Robinson Construction

Kosciusko County Area Plan Commission approved the rezoning of an agricultural district for Robinson Construction during its meeting Wednesday.
Brandon and Dan Robinson, with Robinson Construction, attended the meeting to present a petition for rezoning ground from an Agricultural district to an Industrial-2 district. The property is on the south side of CR 250N, west of CR 100E, near the Warsaw Municipal Airport.
Brandon told the commission Robinson Construction is planning on developing a type of commercial building on the property at some point in time.
"It very likely could be our shop, which is currently located on 200N and relocating it up here, and if that doesn't work out, then we may put another building of some sort on there for commercial manufacturing use," said Brandon.
He said the goal is to have the building as far west of the CR 250N and CR 100E intersection as possible.
Area Plan Director Matt Sandy said city of Warsaw representatives were notified of the petition as a courtesy and didn't have any direct comments.
Dan told the commission when the property was available for sale a couple years ago, Warsaw Community and Economic Development Director Jeremy Skinner asked Robinson Construction to purchase the land.
"I think the city would be favorable toward an I-2," said Dan.
The commission also approved an easement vacation for Janet Callaghan, who resides in the Melody Acres neighborhood in Warsaw. The easement is south of Cardinal Drive and north of Bluebird Drive.
"Property lines won't change, but that easement will disappear," said Sandy. "Part of what spurred this was some violations that had occurred over the years came up, and as a way to look at resolving some of that, through this vacation, that would alleviate those issues in that block."
Cameron Plew, Callaghan's grandson, attended the meeting on behalf of Callaghan.
"This easement has been here since 1959," said Plew. "Nobody's recognized this easement in the subdivision. There are fences on nearly every home. Her fence got blown over in a storm and we requested to replace it and were initially denied because of the easement. So were other people in that neighborhood."
The commission also:
• Approved a petition from Mariela Vazquez to rezone eight acres from an Agricultural to an Agricultural-2 district. The property is on the east side of CR 400W, east of CR 400N, Warsaw.
• Approved a final plat for Michael and Linda Chupp, Milford.
APC's next meeting is at 1 p.m. Jan. 7 in the Old Courtroom at the Kosciusko County Courthouse.
