The Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory accepted an automated external defibrillator donated by the Kizer family during their monthly meeting Tuesday afternoon. Inspired by seeing donations from other individuals and organizations, Joan Kizer, with the help of family and friends, raised funds to purchase the Phillips AED in memory of her late husband Jack. The AED is now the fifth one to be used by the department. Warsaw Fire responded to a medical assist in January for Jack Kizer, who later died. Joan Kizer said she was so touched by their response that she asked what equipment the department needed. WWFT Chief Mike Brubaker was on hand to recieve the gift. Brubaker stated the department intends to place the AED on Engine 3 for use at Station 3, which is planned to be built on Warsaw’s south side.
