CLAYPOOL - A Kentucky man is in critical condition after nearly being electrocuted Wednesday afternoon near Claypool.
Steve Bryant, 29, was working in a bucket truck near the intersection of CRs 900S and 775W, on the north side of Beaver Dam Lake, when a live power line apparently broke and came down across his back, and he was shocked by the electrical wire. The accident occurred at about 2 p.m.
Bryant was taken by helicopter ambulance to St. Joseph Regional Burn Center, Fort Wayne, where he was listed in critical condition this morning. Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department officials said Bryant is expected to be flown to a Kentucky hospital later today so he can be near his family.
Officials did not know what Bryant was working on at the time of the accident. It is believed that he was working for a private contractor.
