Kentucky author David Bell will hold a book signing and reading of his suspense book “Cemetery Girl” this month. Bell, 41, Bowling Green, Ky., will have a book signing at Warsaw Community Public Library on Oct. 12 at 6 p.m. Besides being an author, Bell is as an English professor at Western Kentucky University. Bell said much of the action of the book takes place in a park and cemetery near the protagonist’s house. The location is based on a real park and cemetery near Bell’s home in Bowling Green, Ky. “It’s a beautiful and atmospheric place, and I thought the title created a sense of that atmosphere,” Bell said. People will be able to purchase the book the night of the book signing at WCPL. Bell started writing the book in the fall of 2008, and with revisions it took two years to write. The cost for the book is $14 for the trade paperback that can be purchased at barnesandnoble.com or amazon.com “Cemetery Girl” tells the story of Tom and Abby Stuart, a married couple who seem to have it all. They have good jobs and a good marriage, and a beautiful daughter, but when their daughter, Caitlin, disappears, a tremendous strain is placed on their marriage. Their attempts to find out what really happened to Caitlin leads them to face truths that will be difficult for them to accept. Bell said the book is for anyone who loves a good story about a family facing and overcoming an overwhelming challenge. It’s a story about ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances. It’s also a thriller, Bell said. He said he has always loved to read and grew up in a house full of books. “At some point, that love of reading became a desire to write stories of my own,” Bell said. He said it seemed like a natural progression from reader to writer. Bell has published two other novels: “The Condemned” in 2008, and “The Girl In The Woods” in 2009. He is already working on his next novel called “The Unknown Child” that is scheduled to be published next year.
