During the Kosciusko County Solid Waste Management District Board of Directors meeting on Tuesday, Tom Ganser, KC Recycling executive director, announced a new job will be available soon.
KC Recycling will be posting a job listing for a part-time position in the backroom. This job will require manual labor and a willingness to learn and work hard.
This job opening is due to several employees currently being on light duty due to injuries received outside of work.
The position will be for six months but may become a permanent position if the employee is an appropriate fit. Pay will be $15.50 per hour.
In other business:
• KCSWMD is still waiting on the Indiana Department of Environmental Management to provide a final answer as to whether they will receive a waste tire grant to help residents dispose of waste tires.
• Liberty Tire Recycling reached out to Ganser about setting up a trailer specifically for tires to be recycled at Liberty and the possibility of taking tractor and semi-truck tires in the future.
Ganser and the board agreed it was a good idea. However, Ganser said setting it up would be a “process we need to think through.” Ganser then brought up that they still need to redo their pavement and do not have the resources to start this in 2026. Ganser recommended working toward this for 2027.
• Sue Ann Mitchell, KCSWMD board member and Kosciusko County commissioner, recommended being in the Home and Garden Show. Ganser responded that they have had mixed experiences with the show in the past and currently do not have enough employees to participate this year but would consider doing it in the future. Mitchell suggested asking board members to volunteer for large events like that in the future.
• Barry Andrew, Winona Lake Town Council member, attended as the newest member of the KCSWMD Board of Directors.
