The band Kansas will headline Warsaw Parks Department’s classic rock concert this summer. Warsaw Board of Public Works and Safety Friday approved a $27,500 contract with Agency For the Performing Arts Inc. for Kansas to perform June 26 at 8 p.m. in Central Park. An opening act has yet to be announced. Kansas is an American rock band that became popular in the 1970s initially on album-oriented rock charts and later with hit singles such as “Carry On Wayward Son” and “Dust in the Wind.” The board also approved several contracts for Warsaw Parks Department’s summer concert series. Contracts for performances included $900 for Alligator Blackbird to perform June 12 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.; $1,200 for Hoosier Highway to perform May 22 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.; $900 for Slim Gypsy Baggage to perform July 31 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.; and $850 for The Bigger Picture to perform Aug. 14 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Also approved was a $700 contract with Cari Rae to perform for a country concert July 24 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. In other business, the board approved a $20,041.25 payment to A & Z Engineering for Husky Trail right of way services and an agreement not to exceed $51,545 between the city and Troyer Group for design services for Mariners Drive. The board also approved: • A $1,500 contract with Pro Audio Services to provide back line services for the country concert performance July 24. • A contract with VS Engineering for Market Street engineering. • A request from Warsaw Police Department to accept funding for a Kosciusko County Community Foundation grant for a two-tier trailer for the dive boat at $7,128 and a Hummingbird 360 side scan sonar unit at $1,400. • A request from Warsaw Public Works Department to purchase a $4,558.47 copier from Sands Office Equipment Service Inc. • A $550 per month agreement between Warsaw Public Works Department and Ace Pest Control Inc. for services. • A $3,800 agreement between Warsaw Public Works Department and Ergo Resource Management for a spill prevention and control plan for compliance with EPA and Indiana Department of Environmental Management for the storage of petroleum products in excess of 1,320 gallons. • The clerk-treasurer’s office paying $29,992 to Warsaw Chrysler for the 2015 Ram 2500 truck upon delivery. • A six-month review salary for Kerry Phillips, wastewater treatment plant maintenance technician, at $16.84 hourly; and William Phillips, wastewater technician, at $15.23 an hour. • An industrial pretreatment program policies, procedures and enforcement response plan for the city.
