Several health service agencies in the community are closer to getting a new home.
The construction of the K21 Health Services Pavilion continues and is tentatively scheduled to open in the spring.
The facility is on Provident Drive at the north end of the Kosciusko Community Hospital campus.
The organizations that will be in the facility are Kosciusko Home Care & Hospice, Medication and Dental Assistance, Women Infant and Children program, Kosciusko County Health Department's Well-Child, Immunization and Prenatal clinics, Health Care Foundation and its BABE boutique, Heartline Pregnancy Center and its Teens & Tots day care, Good Samaritan Fund and the Kosciusko County Cancer Care Fund. The construction costs and new furnishings for each agency are being funded by K21 Foundation.
"Hoch Associates designed this facility after spending time with each agency and evaluating their specific space requirements. They did a great job meeting individual needs in a multi-tenant facility while still providing great shared space for each to use, like a common lobby and conference space," said K21 President Rich Haddad.
He said the project is by far the largest funding commitment K21 has ever made.
"It's iconic in the middle of the worst economic and investment period in decades, we are building this facility, yet the board of directors never wavered in support of this project, which will provide a long-term, low-cost home to meet the facility needs of the agencies," Haddad said.
He said the board believes the facility will improve the way services are provided in the community and allow the agencies an opportunity to work together to increase services.
"The project has been a great catalyst for new ideas. We are already in discussion on potential new services that this facility could now make possible," Haddad said.
He said future space was included in the building to be prepared for other services or organization that may be a good fit in the future.
