July 31, 2026, Proclaimed As Indiana Antique Tractor Preservation Day In Indiana

CLAYPOOL – The importance of antique tractors and farm equipment to Indiana’s agricultural heritage was read from a proclamation Friday to kick off the Echoes of the Past SummerFest Tractor Pull and Show.
Mary Martin, regional director for Gov. Mike Braun’s office, read the proclamation from the state of Indiana. The proclamation stated Indiana’s agricultural heritage has been shaped by generations of farmers whose labor, ingenuities and stewardship of the land helped build the strength of the state.
The “antique tractor stands as an enduring symbol of that heritage, representing the innovation and the hard work that’s transformed Indiana farming throughout the 20th century and whereas collectors, restorers and preservations clubs across Indiana devote countless hours to maintaining and showcasing these historic machines, ensuring that future generations understand the tools and technology that shaped our agriculture past,” she said.
The antique tractor shows, parades and exhibitions bring together Hoosier families and communities to celebrate “our shared rural heritage and pass along traditions of craftsmanship and mechanical skills.” The preservation of antique tractors “honors the memory of the farm families who worked this land and reminds all Hoosiers of the enduring importance of agriculture to Indiana’s identity and economy.”
Braun proclaimed July 31, 2026, as Indiana Antique Tractor Preservation Day.
Rodney Keirn, Echoes of the Past member, thanked Martin on behalf of every Echoes member and said it was an honor to be recognized. Martin said Echoes of the Past will receive the official proclamation.
“Once again, thank you so much. Everybody that’s in the Echoes, all you members, this is for you,” Keirn said, talking about the proclamation.
Before Martin read the proclamation, a 30-foot by 60-foot flag was raised and the national anthem was played.
The SummerFest Tractor Pull and Show was Friday from noon to 9 p.m., and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at 6840 S. County Farm Road, Claypool.
