Judicial Candidates Event Tuesday At Center Lake Pavilion

The Kosciusko County Bar Association and Warsaw-Kosciusko County Chamber of Commerce will present a Judicial Candidates Forum Tuesday. The event will be held at Center Lake Pavilion from 7 to 9 p.m. The primary election May 6 will determine the Republican judicial candidates for three of Kosciusko County’s courts: Superior 1, 2 and 3. The sitting judges of Superior Courts 2 and 3, Duane G. Huffer and James C. Jarrette, will retire from the bench in 2015. Judge Joe V. Sutton is unopposed in the Republican primary for an additional term as presiding judge of Kosciusko Superior Court 3. Primary election candidates participating in the forum are: Superior Court 1: David C. Cates, Stephen P. Harris and Chad M. Miner. Superior Court 2: Torrey J. Bauer, Mark E. Caruso and Tyler S. Haines. In addition to providing more insight into the experience each candidate can bring to the bench, the candidates will have an opportunity to answer questions prepared by a panel of attorneys on issues related to the efficient administration of the courts, caseloads and so on. However, due to the strict code of judicial conduct, the candidates will not be asked questions relating to political or social issues. Senior Judge Rex Reed, former Circuit Court Judge, will serve as moderator.
