Irish musician, dancer and educator Shannon Dunne returns to Warsaw this May for a vibrant series of workshops and a culminating community celebration of Irish culture.
On Sunday, May 17, Dunne will lead an afternoon of all-ages, all-levels workshops at Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church, offering participants a chance to experience Irish traditions through movement, song, and instrumental music, according to a news release from Community Arts Program.
The workshop schedule includes:
1–2:30 p.m. — Irish Social Dance & Footwork
2:30–4 p.m. — Traditional Songs
4–5:30 p.m. — Irish Tunes
Designed for beginners and experienced participants alike, the sessions emphasize accessibility, creativity and community. Attendees can choose to participate in one, two or all three workshops.
The experience continues beyond the classroom. On Thursday, May 28 at 6 p.m., participants and community members are invited to gather at Mad Anthony’s for an evening of Irish music, song and dance. This informal celebration offers a chance to share what was learned in the workshops, join in a session and connect with others in a welcoming, social atmosphere.
“These workshops are about bringing people together through shared experience,” says Dunne. “Irish music and dance are living traditions, and everyone is welcome to take part — whether it’s your first time or you’ve been doing it for years.”
