Two people injured in a Monday accident in which a Pierceton teen was killed have been discharged from area hospitals.

Thomas L. Waikel Jr., 34, of Pierceton, was released from Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, on Wednesday, and his daughter, 2-year-old Madeline Waikel, is no longer a patient at Kosciusko Community Hospital.

The Waikels were injured in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of CR 500E and Pierceton Road. Sarah A. Webster, 16, of CR 500E, Pierceton, died as result of the injuries she suffered in the accident.

A Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department spokesman said Thursday that an accident reconstructionist will again look at the scene to determine how the accident happened. At this time it is believed that Webster was northbound on CR 500E and proceeded into the intersection after stopping at the stop sign. Webster was turning left, or westbound, onto Pierceton Road when a van driven by Waikel collided with Webster's car. Waikel was eastbound on Pierceton Road and did not have a stop sign at the intersection.

Waikel's van rolled onto its side upon impact and all three accident victims were pinned in the wreckage until emergency crew were able to extricate them.

The accident remains under investigation.
