INDOT To Work On U.S. 30 Bridge Over Ind. 15 In 2027

Indiana Department of Transportation will be doing a bridge deck overlay on the U.S. 30 east/west bridge over Ind. 15 in Warsaw as early as spring 2027.
At the Warsaw Common Council meeting Monday night, Warsaw Public Works Director Dustin Dillon explained INDOT had contacted him about the project.
“There will be two interchanges out of the four that will be closed temporarily for about a two-month span,” he said. “Coming off of 15, it’ll be the eastbound ramp to go eastbound on 30 - (traffic) will not be able to get on at that point. So that was part of the Anchorage Road that we opened up for that. And then if you were coming westbound on 30 to get off on to State Road 15, we came up with the unofficial detour route of getting off one exit earlier.”
The unofficial detour will be Silveus Crossing/CR North 150W to West 300N for eastbound traffic and Anchorage Road for westbound traffic.
“Again, it won’t be for the entire time ... 30 will stay open, it’ll be just down to one lane there, but as they’re moving and shifting for worker safety and whatnot, they’ve asked to come up with an unofficial detour route,” Dillon said.
Trucks, semi trucks and other heavy traffic will still have to follow the official state detour route, which will go to U.S. 331 and Ind. 13, he said.
“They will still be bound to that. This is just for local traffic. Obviously, local residents aren’t going to go all the way to 331 and then turn around and come back, so we came up with a plan to take action there,” Dillon said. “There have been some questions on the Anchorage Road project, which is getting ready to start here in March, so we’re excited about that, but I did confirm that the - right now - tentative substantial completion for that is November 15th of this year.”
INDOT will reimburse the city for costs related to damage on the listed unofficial detour, but reimbursable work must be approved by INDOT prior to the beginning of any work. All reimbursable expenses must be documented, according to a letter from INDOT to the city.
The council approved the unofficial detour by a vote of 6-0, with Councilman Mike Klondaris absent.
In other business, the council:
• Reviewed the 2025 encumbered purchase orders report from Clerk-Treasurer Lynne Christiansen. She indicated the $6.5 million encumbered was less than what was encumbered in 2025 from 2024.
• Approved the resolution adopting the Kosciusko County Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan, as presented by Kosciusko County Emergency Management Agency Director Kip Shuter. The county commissioners approved it at their meeting last week.
• Acknowledged the 12 conflicts of interest statements for city employees, elected officials and board members, including Dustin Dillon, Brent Fifer, Jay Godshalk, Bryce Good, Kyle Martin, Dan Robinson, Brandon Schmitt, Drew Shilling, Tony Shilling, Juergen Voss, Morgan Woodcock and George Clemens.
