Inaugural Concert Sunday In New Glover Pavilion

Posted

Musicians will take the stage for the first time inside the newly constructed Glover Pavilion Sunday, with the Warsaw Symphony Orchestra performing for the inaugural concert.

The event, free to the public, is to begin at 4 p.m. and will feature pianist Jane Glover-McInnis, the daughter of Richard and Evelyn Glover, whom donated the pavilion to Central Park last year.

The 40-member symphony, conducted by Patrick Kavanaugh, will present the works of Mozart, Gershwin and Bernstein during a one-hour performance.

A dedication speech and unveiling of a plaque to honor the Glover family also is scheduled.

"I hope we have good community support for Sunday," Jon Garber, parks department administrator, said. "Mr. Glover was a man with great vision for the community, and we're glad he shared his vision with Central Park."

Attendees are asked to bring lawn chairs. In case of rain, the concert will be held at the Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 210 High St., Warsaw.
