Idle Threat Brings Warsaw Police To Restaurant

Posted

Police and employees of a local restaurant did not see it as a laughing matter when a customer allegedly threatened to shoot everybody in the restaurant.

Warsaw police converged on Penguin Point on North Detroit Street shortly after 8 p.m. Monday after an employee heard the alleged threat over a drive-through speaker.

Two men were in the vehicle parked on the north side of the building when police arrived and ordered them out of the pickup at gunpoint.

The driver of the vehicle told police he made the offhand comment because he thought they had been in the drive-through too long.

The driver was charged with public intoxication and his passenger was released without charges. There were no charges relating to the alleged threat.
