INDIANAPOLIS – Eight Indiana organizations were recognized Thursday as recipients of the 2026 Governor’s Award for Environmental Excellence.
Winners were announced at the 29th Annual Indiana Partners for Sustainability’s Annual Conference and Tradeshow.
The Governor's Awards for Environmental Excellence are Indiana’s most prestigious environmental recognition awards, according to a news release from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM). They are reserved for the most innovative, sustainable and exemplary programs or projects that positively impact Indiana’s environment and demonstrate measurable environmental, economic and social benefits.
“I congratulate these organizations that made environmental stewardship a focal point of their operations,” said Gov. Mike Braun. “This year’s winners represent some of the most innovative, forward thinking work happening today, improving quality of life for communities across our state.”
Braun also issued a proclamation declaring Sept. 21-27, 2026, as Pollution Prevention Week in the state of Indiana. IDEM Chief of Staff Hilary Alderete and Energy and Natural Resources Chief of Staff Parvonay Stover presented the awards on the governor’s behalf.

This project has introduced the nation’s first carbon-neutral eggs to Kroger’s Simple Truth brand, now available in stores across Indiana. Made possible through a collaboration between Kipster Netherlands, MPS Egg Farms and Kroger, the initiative reflects a shared commitment to sustainable food production. Located in North Manchester, the Kipster facility features three state-of-the-art poultry barns designed to set new standards for animal welfare and environmental stewardship.
