Indiana Business Opportunity Partners held a charity craft event and quarter auction for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Indiana in Warsaw Nov. 14 at the Baker Youth Club in Warsaw. The iBOP group was able to make a $3,272 donation to Big Brothers Big Sisters. For more than 100 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life, according to a press release from iBOP. As the nation’s largest donor and volunteer supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters makes matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”), ages 6 through 18, in communities across the country. BBBS helps to develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people, the release states. There were over 100 items to bid on from direct sales consultants and handmade items from crafters for the event. iBOP’s next quarter auction event will be at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1126 in Warsaw Feb. 27 at 1 p.m., with the doors opening at noon. Follow the iBOP Facebook fan page for more information. A quarter auction is a way to support a charity and maybe pick up some gifts. Participants will want to purchase tickets in advance for $5 each as seating is limited. Tickets will be $7 at the door if any are remaining. Participants then will exchange their ticket for a paddle and a numbered ball. When a participant decides they want to try to win the item up for bid, they put the appropriate number of quarters in a bucket in the middle of the table and hold their numbered paddle up high. If a participant’s numbered ball is drawn and they have bid, they win that item.
