IAW To Flush Hydrants In Warsaw, Winona Lake And Claypool

Posted

Indiana American Water will conduct water main and fire hydrant flushing in portions of its Warsaw, Winona Lake and Claypool service areas later this month and into May.
In Warsaw and Winona Lake, hydrant flushing will take place April 27 through May 3. If any hydrants are not completed during that week, they will be flushed May 18–22, according to a news release from Indiana American Water.
All Claypool system hydrants will be flushed May 18–22.
The company conducts annual maintenance programs to help ensure high‑quality water service and reliable fire protection. Indiana American Water is responsible for maintaining more than 31,000 fire hydrants and 5,600 miles of water mains in communities across the state.
Water main and fire hydrant flushing are an important part of regular maintenance for water distribution systems. Indiana American Water consistently meets or exceeds all drinking water standards, the release states.
No interruptions in water service are expected during flushing; however, customers may notice temporary discoloration or a slight drop in water pressure while work is underway. Customers are advised to avoid doing laundry during flushing hours in their area.
If tap water becomes discolored, Indiana American Water recommends running cold water through one or more faucets for a few minutes until the water runs clear.
Customers with questions about hydrant flushing may contact Indiana American Water’s Customer Service Center at 800‑492‑8373.
