Two Whitley County women were found murdered early Sunday morning at Goose Lake.
Melissa Walter, 25, and Tammy Walter, 33, were found dead at Melissa's house on West Shoreline Drive, Columbia City. The Whitley County Sheriff's Department received a 911 call requesting EMS and police personnel at 5:29 a.m. Sunday. Emergency crews found the two women, who apparently had been stabbed to death.
According to the prosecutor's report, the two women died around 5 a.m.
William A. Walter, Melissa's husband, is being charged with two counts of murder by the Whitley County Prosecutor's Office.
William Walter was taken into custody and is in the hospital to treat injuries from an accident in Noble County. He was apparently struck by a pickup. He will be brought before the Whitley Circuit Court for an initial hearing after he is released from the hospital.
Tammy Walter was the former wife of William's uncle.
The investigation continues. The Whitley County Sheriff's Department, Indiana State Police and Whitley County EMS personnel are conducting the investigation.
The Noble County Sheriff's Department assisted in apprehending the the suspect.
