WHITLEY COUNTY – A husband and wife were arrested Tuesday following a pursuit after they allegedly took two vehicles at gunpoint in Kosciusko and Noble counties. At approximately 6:45 p.m. Tuesday a gray 2007 Subaru Forrester was taken at gunpoint from its owner in the 600 block of East CR 600S in Noble County by Marty Robbins, 46, originally from Silver Lake, and wife Dawn Robbins, 40, address unknown, according to State Trooper Justin Snyder in a release from the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department. The couple had allegedly taken another vehicle, a Chevy Suburban, at gunpoint from a victim in Kosciusko County earlier in the day and left it at the residence in Noble County before taking the Subaru, the release states. As officers with the State Police and Whitley and Noble county sheriff’s departments headed to the area of 600S, the Subaru was found in a field in the area of CR 450E and Anderson Road at approximately 6:57 p.m. by a Whitley County deputy. Over the next 11 minutes, Troopers Snyder, Jeremy Brice and Jonathon Amburgey pursued the vehicle as it made its way both off-road in fields and on county roads before it crashed in the area of CRs 300N and 550E. Marty admitted to officers he was high on meth during the incident, according to Sgt. Chad Hill, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department public information officer. The suburban was stuck on a tree stump, overheated and on fire. Both Marty and Dawn Robbins were taken into custody by troopers. A revolver was also located after it had been thrown out of the vehicle, according to the release. The Robbins were transported by Noble County deputies and are being held in the Noble County Jail on charges related to the taking of the Subaru at gunpoint. Charges relating to the pursuit will be applied for by Trooper Snyder through the Whitley County Prosecutor’s Office. Marty Robbins was also being sought by the United States Marshal Service for an outstanding federal arrest warrant, according to the release. Also assisting were the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, Churubusco, Ligonier and Columbia City police departments and Indiana Conservation officers.
