Haunted House at Fairgrounds Bigger, Better, Scarier this Year

Posted
Work started three days after the 2011 Kosciusko County Fair and now the finishing touches are being made.

Soul Takers Acres, a haunting by the lake, is ready for another year of scaring scores of people from around the area.

Located at the Kosciusko County Fairgrounds, Soul Takers Acres is not recommended for kids under 13 without parental guidance.

Starting Sept. 30, Soul Takers Acres will be open every Friday and Saturday night.

Friday hours are 7 to 10 p.m. and Saturday hours are 7 to 11 p.m. through Halloween.

About 22 volunteers will help frighten people as they go through the expansive haunted house.

It takes about 25 minutes to go through.

The cost for the haunted house is $8.

A new feature this year is a sideshow that costs $3.

The cost for both is $10.

The sideshow is also PG-13 and will feature oddities and unusual items like a vampire hunter’s kit, a mumified arm of a voodo priestess, voodo dolls and much more.

Also new to the haunted house this year is a vortex tunnel.

The length of the haunted house this year is nearly doubled and event organziers plan to double the screams.

There will also be a kid-friendly carnival with games for smaller children.

Proceeds go to help the Horse and Pony barn at the fairgrounds as well as helping with the fairgrounds’ capital improvements projects.

Commercials, which were professionaly done this year, are airing on Fort Wayne and South Bend radio stations as well as WRSW 107.3 and Willie 103.5.

Concerning other haunted houses, Dr. Buzzsaw informed followers on Facebook earlier this year that the Haunted Hospital wouldn’t run this year.

The Times-Union Haunted Basement will also not be  running.
