James "Alex" Hall, a senior at Warsaw Community High School, was named as one of 13 finalists in the Indiana Leaders of Tomorrow program.
He received a $500 cash award for college and $500 for his school, a donation from EMBARQ.
EMBARQ initiated the statewide Indiana Leaders of Tomorrow program and partnered with the Times-Union to recognize young leaders in grades 9-12 for their leadership through community volunteerism, academic success and extracurricular activities.Hall, the son of Mark and Angel Hall, Warsaw, was selected as a finalist for his many community service and academic achievements. He is very involved with Kosicusko Endowment Youth Services at the Kosciusko County Community Foundation. Through KEYS, Hall has provided help for the Salvation Army, Our Father's House, Eisenhower Elementary School, Lakeland Youth Center and Syracuse Daycare. He accompanied his church on three trips to Gulfport, Miss., to help with hurricane Katrina relief, and is active on the Kosciusko Youth Leadership Academy. Hall is a scholar athlete and a member of student council and National Honors Society.
The statewide winner of the Indiana Leaders of Tomorrow program was Erin Murphy, of Columbia City High School. A panel of judges selected Murphy as the winner from more than 200 nominations generated around the state.
"EMBARQ congratulates James and all of those who have been nominated in this program," said Jack Moore, EMBARQ public affairs manager. "We are pleased to be able to recognize area youth for the leadership roles they are playing and hope to encourage others to become volunteers in our community."
